What’s New in the Studio

January 13, 2018

Just looking around the studio this morning at a whole bunch of unfinished projects, wondering which ones to focus on first. That’s not a bad problem to have, actually, but it does tend to give me pause. What it means is that I need to clear some space in order to focus. Am I the only one?

Over here are several little baby canvases ready for their last coat of clear gel. Once that’s been applied and has a day to dry, I can move them out of the way.

Over here is a stack of my favorite size of small panels with texture applied, waiting patiently for me to get back to work on them.

And in several places around the studio are some half-finished, fairly large canvases. I’d say there are a half dozen of those standing up against the wall.

It’s been unusually cold in our neck of the woods, so that’s going to be my excuse. It’s cold in the studio. It has its own heating, but I’d have to commit a day to be out there working. OK, I’ve talked my way through this dilemma. Now time to get to work on it.

Just a quick note about my Etsy shop: If you know of anyone who’d like some affordable art that is small enough to fit just about anywhere, and can brighten your day, please save the link and share it freely. You, my faithful blog readers, have always been the people who have kept me going and helped me get the word out about my work, and for that I am forever grateful.

Have a creative day!

I feel good energy coming from these works in progress! The colors are so inviting on this cold day! I, too, have been struggling with working in the studio on these cold days. This encouraging post might be just the thing to get me moving!

Martha, you certainly aren’t the only one! I haven’t updated my blog yet, but I am also working on my studio. It’s so hard to think clearly with things everywhere! It’s hugely messy, but hey that’s how ya know a artist has been working right? 😉 I’m thinking of making mixed media works this year but also putting together another exhibition!!! I’ll be posting about it, so you’ll see. I can’t wait to share and am very glad to see you creating. 🙂 How exciting!!! 🙂

That is exciting indeed Angela! Be sure to get back and let us know what’s going on with your new projects.

I’ll do that Martha! If I don’t post here, you’ll see it on my fan page or instagram. There are so many people that I’m keeping up with now but you’ll always be one of my favourites! That’s for sure, by the way I absolutely LOVE your newer works Martha! Please remind me were you one of my friends who also talked with Casey Klahn? Casey works on oils. I just can’t seem to remember, but DO remember that I met both of you on my blog. 🙂 How many years has it been now? Time FLIES doesn’t it!?! Anyway, the colours in your newer works are amazing my friend. Seeing your works always makes me smile. I can’t wait to see more!!! I’ll be jammin’ 😉 and painting myself. Can’t wait to share! You’re awesome Martha. ❤

Angela, thank you so much for your always-encouraging words. I can’t tell you how many years it’s been since we bumped into each other online, but I know it’s been 10 or 15. I think we were all blogging back in the early 2000s, and I saw Casey’s work during that time too. He also works in delicious pastels. Keep on jammin’!

Definitely not the only one, I’m facing the same problem myself quite often 🙂

I love getting your comments, so please don't be shy! Your feedback is valued.
