From Every Direction – Collage, 5×7″

This collage is made up of parts of a Gelli print, found papers, and hand painted papers. The title is appropriate to what I feel like right now — pulled from every direction. But how much nicer than getting no attention at all, right? Our dance card has been full for the past week — lots more activity through the house than I’m accustomed to. A small crew of handymen putting up new lighting and blinds for 2 days, a weekly (and the final) phone bank for President Obama here on Monday evening, and two extended family dinners back to back (couldn’t get their schedules together so they could all be here at once.)

And of course there was voting and then Election Night on TV. I couldn’t help myself — just had to watch until very late last night.  I felt good that many of the most extreme candidates were shown the exit door. Another thing that pleases me to no end is that the people have spoken loud and clear, and sent the message that our elections are not for sale.

The collage work continues, and I have the urge to get out the gelli plate again. I’ll report my progress to you.

I know what you are talking about re the elections. Last night I stayed awake until I heard Pres. Obama’s acceptance speech then I could not go to sleep two more hours because I got some real inspiration for a stitch and slash quilt. I enjoy your work. Polly

Thank you, Polly! Interesting that you got inspired late at night after the President’s speech. I didn’t make it that late, sad to say. I had to record it and watch the next morning. Glad you enjoy the blog!

Very nice collage, I can see how your title may be appropriate for it, so much color it’s hard to focus on just one spot! haha

Very true, Mandaly – this is a way that I used to work on a regular basis — complicated images and a lot of color. My normal work has become more subdued. But these little breaks are fun sometimes.

This vibrant collage makes me think of fireworks. How appropriate with the good outcome of your elections.

I love getting your comments, so please don't be shy! Your feedback is valued.
