Another Favorite Blue Painting
September 25, 2012
In my studio picture from the last post is a glimpse of a large blue painting sitting on the floor by my computer desk. Sherrill Pearson commented that she liked what she could see of it, so I promised to post the painting today. It’s one of my largest paintings, 5×4 feet. I have larger ones, but they are modular.
It’s almost impossible to believe I haven’t posted this painting in my blog before, but I couldn’t find it in a search.
I did have a decidedly blue period just a few short years ago. Here are more blue paintings . . .
I think these are appropriate for these blue sky fall days.

beautiful…. i would hang these on my walls.
I’m honored, Madelyn! Thanks so much.
I love these blue paintings and especially Singing Water – Echoing Rain, and the rich colours of Cascading. I do remember your “blue period” with great affection, as I tend to gravitate to blue in my paintings.
Thank you so much Martha! They are so beautiful. They almost look like they are done in pastels – which I know they’re not. But, like the first comment said, “I would hang these on my walls”. They would be smashing!! Sherrill Pearson, Montreal PS I have always been so attracted to your blues.
Sherrill, I wish they were on your walls! I have run out of space here. 🙂 Thank you, my friend.
Martha – these are beautiful – love the blues – heavenly:)) And, 5 X 4 I hae not made onethat large yet. But, hope to – that is exciting.
Shirley, the first “big” canvas seems scary. I remember well when I first decided to order about four that size. At the time, I had a studio in an old downtown warehouse that had been converted to an artists’ space. The expansive space lent itself to large work, so I was determined to stretch out a bit. But I must admit it was difficult to begin covering that beautiful, pristine canvas. After the second one, I began to really get into it. You definitely should do it!
I go through many blue phases we seem to need the reminders of blueon a cloudy day for instance
Nice to see your work;-)
Chris, we do need reminders of blue sometimes, don’t we? I don’t use blue as much now, so it’s nice to look back at them.
Martha, these blues are really lovely. Very atmospheric and slightly melancholy – definitely reminiscent of autumnal blue skies.
Thanks, Stephanie!
