The Present Moment
June 26, 2012
Just another collage using my newest painted papers plus some of my bits and pieces. Nothing puts me in the present moment like creating, or like big fat juicy summer tomatoes! This one fits a sandwich perfectly, with even a little hanging outside the edges. I don’t usually eat mayonnaise any more, and not even much bread these days. But in this case I’ll make an exception.
This is the first time we’ve planted the Mortgage Lifter heirloom tomato. The things are monstrous. I’m hooked!

Can’t decide if I love the collage or tomatoes more! Home-grown tomatoes are so wonderful. Ever tried on within grilled cheese sandwich? Heaven!
Thanks, Barbara. Actually I have had them in grilled cheese sandwiches — often! I agree those are fabulous. Of course just a plain tomato sandwich with mayo on good bread is wonderful too, and then we can go on from there. If I were Italian I’d probably say Bruschetta was number one. So many tomatoes, so little time! 😉
Wow – those tomatoes are fantastic Martha. Tony bought some at the supermarket tonight and they were almost $11 a kilo. If only the storm hadn’t destroyed ours! As always, your collages sing 🙂
Cath, I keep forgetting it isn’t tomato season for you. Yikes! And if it’s like here, the expensive out-of-season ones are bred to travel long distances, not for flavor. Glad you like the collage.
Our super dear ones are fairly local; think it’s a supply issue following the storm. But, yes, not that flavourful either. Hot house vs sunshine I suppose.
Enjoying the present moment … not worrying about tomorrow … great collage! =D
Thanks you, gonerustic! I’m happy to discover you and your beautiful work. I hope my readers will check it out.
A “heart” tomatoe, another “happy accident”? I love it! I love your art, too, by the way…good stuff.
Yep, Shirley. It was totally unintentional when I did it. Then after the fact I noticed the heart. Thanks, glad you like my work!
