Two New Collages
It was great to get out into the studio tonight after a busy day doing a variety of dumb chores. My son is coming for a week, arriving next Monday. I am old enough to be smart enough to do things a little at a time. Our screened porch hadn’t had a spring cleanout, so I spent a couple of hours yesterday dusting off the oak pollen and getting all the cobwebs out of the corners. The pet bedding was past due for laundering, and there have been weeds to pull, and on and on. Things like that need to be well out of the way so we can have a fun visit and enjoy the house and the yard.
But back to the collages from tonight. These were more pieces of painted magazine pages, with a few flourishes with my newest favorite toy, a brush pen. I thought I would be able to tell you what brand it is, but now I’ve tossed out the packaging and can only say that it has Japanese writing on the label, with the numbers and letters FP5M. I believe it was this one and came from our local Hobby Lobby. I do like it a lot. It’s the same as many other brush pens in that the nylon bristles come to a nice flexible point. I don’t want to be without one of these pens in the future.
The heavier black strokes in the collages are from a squeeze bottle of black dimensional fabric paint.
I love the spontaneity of your posts and the mix of chores and art. Dusting, gardening, art. My kind of life.
Thanks,
Beth
Beth, it’s the best life I can think of really!
These are really nice pieces. I really like your ability to work with a more neutral pallette.
These are beautiful! I particularly like Autopilot; the colors create a wonderfully serene feeling.
