R.I.P. Boomer, 1997-2012

February 6, 2012

Boomer, Christmas 2011

I wrote back in March of last year that our oldest dog Boomer had been diagnosed with cancer. Three surgeries and several good quality months later, his time finally came today.  It’s gut wrenching to say goodbye to a family member, even if they do have four legs and fur.

I know we’re going to feel better in a little while. Right now, I’m having a scotch, neat, with a water chaser.

Back to art tomorrow, my friends. I love you all!

It is so hard to lose a furry loved one. My condolences to you and family. I lost my collie of 13 1/2 years last Dec. Your pup lived a long time at 15 years. Peace and love. 🙂

Laura, so true. He did have some great years. I feel for you with the loss of your collie. They get into our hearts to stay.

Nothing to say except you are in my thoughts. Scotch sounds good.

Thanks, Deirdre. Yes, Scotch was a big help, due to the adrenaline that was present yesterday. An exhausting day and then the tears. But he had a great life, and we have to remind ourselves of that.

I am so sorry to learn of the loss of your lovely Boomer. He looks such a kindly fellow. Four-footed and furred family members and still part of the family, and much loved and much missed.

Absolutely true, Sandra. You know the best part about them? It’s their unconditional love for us. We can take a great lesson from them. Thank you for your kind words.
