No Stranger to Color
The panels I started working on earlier this week don’t seem that bright when you consider these. I had created them for a commission, and the collector wanted them to be in saturated colors with lots of gloss.
At the time I had blogged about these, but that was before my WordPress blog, and I couldn’t locate this picture to post here. Then I discovered it in my Google+ album. It seems that every picture you put up on the web is conveniently collected in albums.
I think I’d better check to see what else is in those albums.
So, thinking about color, this is a complete departure from the muted palette I’ve been working with. Do I dare go that bright again? I like them better now than I did when I finished them.
LOVE these beautiful cheerful colours, I do hope that you do more beautiful colours.
Sandra, thanks for the feedback. I may well do that.
Oh Martha they are as gorgeous as the first time I saw them. Do some brights – I dare you 😉
Well Cath, that might be the encouragement I need — a dare!
These turned out beautifully and something within you went with all that colour on the other panels, so I’d say trust your instincts. All that yummy colour and textures will be great I’m sure. Google albums, who knew?!
Bren, sometimes I just crave a little more color. Can’t stay away from it for too long! As for the Google albums, I really didn’t realize all of my pictures from my old deleted blog from Blogger were still there. I’m glad to see them there, because it’s easy access in case I need them.
Martha, it is so funny that you are talking about your colour palette this day. This morning I was lying in bed and was thinking about a painting you did that always stood out in my mind. It was blue, and about…I don’t know, 24×38 if that exists. ahaha.. with beautiful dark blue marks. This is a bad discription I realize, but i have brain freeze from playing out in the snow with the dog. That whole period of your painting style I would love to see again. I loved many of them. Also love these brights! I’m a bit of a colour nut anyway. 🙂
Sherrill, was it this one? It still have it, and it’s in my etsy shop as well (colorpoetry)
yes, it is dear Martha! i’m going to look at it.
It’s funny, Sherrill — that painting has always been one of my favorites. I’m thrilled you remembered it.
Aha! Yes Brights! Go on, I’d love to see them.
