New Collage – Early Winter

November 3, 2011

Early Winter - Collage, 8x8"

With so much white in the background, this collage will need to be mounted on something other than white, so I’m showing it with gray here. The title just came to me as so many in the northeast were just hit with a surprise October snowstorm, my kids in Philly included.

As you are probably already aware, I save every scrap of every single piece of paper for collage. The torn brown piece is from a piece of parchment paper that I had underneath a loaf of bread that I baked yesterday. It was the second time I’d used the paper, and it turned out to be very brittle and brown. I love it!

Here’s some of the bread from my kitchen. I love it when the weather is cool enough to crank up the oven.

Whole Wheat and Sourdough Breads

What goes with great bread on a chilly evening? Great soup, of course! Stay warm everyone.

    Hi Martha:
The bread is now part of the earthiness of the painting. Great idea. Adds a toasty warmth to the winter-like collage, and to the lovely soup! The bread itself looks soooo good too.
    Thanks for sharing.

Thank you Pat! I saved the rest of the parchment sheet, so I’m sure you’ll see it showing up again. 🙂

I love sourdough. Can you explain how to create the starter again? Thanks.
