A Record Snow

January 10, 2011

Deep Freeze - Solvent Altered Magazine Page

Last night we had an unusual amount of snow for our area. In our neighborhood we had ten inches. People are talking about this being the biggest snow since the winter of 1964. I was living here then, and it was deeper and colder that time.

Since we moved back here, we have had the wettest fall, the coldest winter, the hottest and driest two summers, and the most snowfall in a lot of years. I hope we don’t get asked to leave so that everyone’s life can get back to normal.

Guess I need to invest in a pair of boots!

Abby didn't stay outside long enough for a photo op. She's no dummy!

Great photos. You definitely got more snow than we did.

It’s global warming I tell you. Global warming!!

All right you guys. Global warming gives rise to climate change. You can look it up. (Glad you like the pictures! Wish you were here.)

    Martha,

samo here in Matthews NC. Not a record though. We had over 20 inches in Feb 2004. This is the South? Can you say global warming?

Happy trails everyone! Let’s make a snow man!

    Hi Martha,
Your snow is beautiful! We got some here- about 4″ and a little ice. Of course: everything is closed!

We had the coldest December for decades, but during the weekend, temps went up from 10 to balmic 50 F.

Eva, our coldest December was last year, I believe. But this year will be a close second.

The snow looks beautiful; but then, we never get snow here, I suspect the reality is a lot less romantic.
That Abby’s a smart girl. You do seem to attract extreme weather though – take care Martha!

Don’t we? Adding a twist to this, Abby is a hurricane rescue!! That girl has been through all kinds of extremes.

Man! We only got 6+ inches. You guys really got socked!
Your Blueberry makes me want another cat…

Isn’t it weird, Melody? You were definitely in the path. Blueberry is her own person, that’s for sure. She’s really shy and skittish. The only way she lets me hold her is if I’m already halfway reclining, and then she’ll jump into my lap. She was pretty feral when we got her a few years ago, so that’s great progress in itself.

I love getting your comments, so please don't be shy! Your feedback is valued.
