The Other New Painting

Sense of Belonging Sm

“Sense of Belonging” – Acrylic on Paper, 5 x 7″ with Hand Deckled Edges

This little painting will go in my Etsy shop.

I am feeling more of a sense of belonging now that I am living near more of my extended family. Since our sons have grown, they generally follow the families of their wives and significant others, or they follow their careers wherever they take them. Isn’t that always the way?

Still, I think my sons secretly would love to live here. It’s a given that they’ll want to visit often. It’s a great place to decompress.

Here is a look at some 12″ square canvases that I unearthed from a box this morning. They were packed with about a dozen more 12″ paintings that are finished and will not be changed.

These were works in progress and I never got going on them again. That means I have six things to work on!

New Old Work

Plus, I have a box of blank 8″ square panels waiting for a block of time to work on those.

Oh, how much FUN for you to find these pretties-even unfinished they are great!! the top right one is my favorite, it looks like a silhouette to me.

Fun for sure, Jane! The simple act of getting them all out and looking at them has gotten me excited about taking them further.

Oh…wow! I love the blue one… my favorite colors to work with. Cool and soothing.

    What a wonderful gold mine!

Melany, I love blue too! At one time I felt I had done too many blue paintings, so I gave it up for a while. But blue still calls to me.

Sounds like you’re settling into your new nest with lovely feathering!
Can’t wait to see work done in your new studio space…

DJ, I realized that if I wait until it’s perfect, that could be a long time from now, so I need to just get working. The lights aren’t up and the walls aren’t painted, but they can wait a little while.

That bottom row is ALREADY yummy! Can’t wait to see how they all turn out.

    Happy weekend! : )

I’m looking forward to the completion of the two upper left. Much as I tend to like lots of colour, these two would be the most challenging….and rewarding when done. Speaking for myself.

Funny you should say that, Karen. I agree about the two on the upper left. The top center one will be a challenge for sure. Has some interesting passages, but doesn’t work as a whole. Top left, I like but . . . what the heck to do next is the challenge.

The rest could almost be considered underpaintings, don’t you think?

oh, those are lovely! they actually look like they could be a finished grouping (or attached as one piece), just as they are arranged in the photo.

Stephanie, I like the way you think! 😉 I love to string things together, and tend to do it in my mind all the time.

I love getting your comments, so please don't be shy! Your feedback is valued.
