Inspired by You
I love how artists are able to inspire each other, even from great distances. Your blogs and your comments keep me inspired, and for that I feel blessed. Our ongoing conversation from yesterday’s post about inspiration has given me added impetus to get this studio ready to go to work again. You have no idea how much I’ve missed getting paint on my hands, in my hair, and on my clothes.
So thank you to the ones who have already weighed in with what you’re working on and thinking about right now. You have helped me more than you know. Since I am not allowed the luxury of getting messy yet — at least with paint — I will show you another digital painting that I created for a client. It’s made up of little bits and pieces from images of several real paintings on canvas. I call it Madras.
My iMac is now in a corner of what will be my studio. I love having it here.
An Artist's Journal 
So glad you are settling in so nicely – both you and the furry creatures. I had to think of you when Robert Genn’s letter arrived in the morning mailbox. The subject is about artists who’ve had to change studio locations and some resultant disorientation they’ve experienced and some remedies too.
I can’t imagine you having that kind of problem but just in case….. ; )
Thanks for letting me know about that, Karen. I’ll make sure I read it! I truly believe the change will be a good one in the long run in all kinds of ways.
I don’t know if it is coincidental, but your colour palette has changed with these last few pieces. Is it a reflection of the new landscape or the move maybe? These last two in particular are quite earthy and sober compared with the “sugar free” collection for instance.
Well Cath, those images are done for a mass audience since they will be sold as prints. They are almost commission work because the client tells me the colors he needs for the interior design folks. So actually they aren’t necessarily the colors I would choose. But you know something? I ended up really liking this patchwork thingie because it reminds me of primitive quilts, similar to the ones done in south Alabama.

Hi, I am so thrilled to hear you sounding so happy with your new home. And generous, creative neighbours. I hope that soon the boxes will have gone the way of the deer heads and you’ll be happily creating in your new studio with real paint! Love your digital artwork, but sorry I cannot inspire you in return. Last week’s lesson we had a useful demo on doing backgrounds blending in several colours, so have been working on that plus fixing up a couple of “dogs”.
Sandra, I still have a few dogs around here that have been fixed and fixed again. You are not alone!
I always get energy from visiting your blog. I am eager to see your new work from your new home.
I feel concern for your dogs. My daughter has one whippet with many scars. But I am sure you will be aware, quick and protective.
Thank you, Diane. And yes, we are very careful with the dogs. I don’t let them off the leash even in our yard. But that will change once we get the privacy fence put in at the back. Then they can run in the enclosed back yard, which is why we bought this place! Whippets are a joy to watch when they turn on the gas, aren’t they!

Chris, I looked at your pavement photos and really love them. I know what you mean when you say you start seeing patterns everywhere. Your brain becomes sensitized. When it happens to me, I even dream about them.
We are in Northwest Alabama, right by the Tennessee River.
