Home Again

July 6, 2009

We are back from our whirlwind home search, and today begins the final cleanout and packing for the move at the end of the month. We have just over three weeks.

We’ve signed a contract on a home that is perfect and ready to move in. It’s much smaller than our house we’ve lived in for 22 years, but it will be easy to live with less “stuff.” It’s in a neighborhood out in the country, with lots of trees a big yards.

There’s a big room that used to be a two-car garage which will serve as my studio, a three-car carport on the back of the house, and a huge fenced-in back yard for the dogs. I don’t want to put pictures up yet until we know that everything is going to fall into place for both closings. But I promise pictures soon!

It goes without saying that I haven’t had any time to paint right now. This little painting is another one of my new works on paper that I did last week.

Awake Sm“Awake” – Acrylic on Paper, 5 x 7″

I hope everyone is working on some interesting projects. Tell me about them!

This one reminds me of … no, let me say: Feininger enjoys the view from Matisse’s window during a sea vacation.

Wonderful good news! and I love the abstract too. It has to have been done in a happy mood.

Thank you Diane — it was done in a happy mood. That’s the thing about painting or doing other art. It’s always a happy thing.

I am so pleased that you’ve found what sounds like your perfect home. Hopefully when you are settled in we’ll see some photos? Really have all fingers crossed for a hassle-free sale, purchase and move. And LOVE your happy painting.

Sandra, I’ll put pictures up as soon as we know everything is going to go smoothly for the closings on both houses. I’m so superstitious! But I do have some great pictures and will show them eventually. And I also want to show progress pictures when I do get into that studio space and start setting it up.

I’ve re-read and yes I see that you’ll put up pictures when you’re sure it’s all going ahead. All your online friends will look forward to that.

Martha, so exciting ! You’re on the runway to a new studio and a new life ! We move quite often (every 5 years on average) and I’m always very stressed and very hopefull about a new place to live in and new friends to meet. I wish you lots of energy to pack everything, declutter and all those things which have to be done when moving.

Ghislaine, I almost wish we had moved more often over the years. We would have been in practice more than we are. But I suppose there are a lot of uncertainties that are stressful, though, with any move. It will all work out. I’m really happy to be decluttering. I just don’t think I would have ever gotten around to it without a push.

I love getting your comments, so please don't be shy! Your feedback is valued.
