Must. Do. Art.

May 25, 2009

I tried to take the whole weekend off, really I did. And then today came and I just couldn’t stand it any longer. I need some different sizes of paintings on panel — specifically some larger square ones and also some tall skinny ones. So I decided to get some layers down and get them drying for the next stage tomorrow. Here is a picture — not a great one, but enough to show that I did get something accomplished today. The long skinny ones are 6 x 24 inches and the big square ones are 16″ square.

These will be in outrageous colors in the style of the Sugar Free series. Many layers to follow, so I’ll update these when they are ready to photograph.

I hope you’ve been having a nice weekend. I guess the bottom line for me is that my work and my fun are one and the same.

Glad to see someone else having fun with the long and skinny – I found a bunch on a great clearance six or eight inches wide and of various lengths. Am having a blast playing with them.

Looking forward to their completion photos.

You were meant to have those 6 x 24’s. I think there’s something special in store for them. Waiting to see… They’ve become my pets.

Margaret, that was the conclusion I came to after all that mixup. I’ve been looking at them for a long time and it’s time to get going on them!

Awesome work, as always! I hadn’t had time to check up on you in a week or so, I am always impressed with the number of works you create. I am curious what you do with the sides of your paintings…do you leave them as they are, drips & all, paint them a solid color, mask them off or something I’m not even thinking of?
