Must. Do. Art.
I tried to take the whole weekend off, really I did. And then today came and I just couldn’t stand it any longer. I need some different sizes of paintings on panel — specifically some larger square ones and also some tall skinny ones. So I decided to get some layers down and get them drying for the next stage tomorrow. Here is a picture — not a great one, but enough to show that I did get something accomplished today. The long skinny ones are 6 x 24 inches and the big square ones are 16″ square.
These will be in outrageous colors in the style of the Sugar Free series. Many layers to follow, so I’ll update these when they are ready to photograph.
I hope you’ve been having a nice weekend. I guess the bottom line for me is that my work and my fun are one and the same.
Okay Martha, stop right there – they are already looking great! 🙂
I would love to be there to watch you work your magic. Can’t wait for the next installments.
Sherrill, you know the old saying. It takes one to do the painting, and another one to hit her over the head when she’s done!
Love the colours of your long skinny ones in particular – have one canvas that shape and have been trying to decide what to do with it for ages! Quite a change from your most recent series – do you have a title for this one yet?
Sandra, these are to be hung with the little square ones in the Sugar Free series. So they will be bright bright bright.
I love the 6 x 24 format and I’m looking forward to how these shape up.
Margaret, I don’t know about you, but when I’m confronted with a different format, I’m hesitant and antsy at the same time.
These were supposed to be 8 x 24, and due to a catalog number mixup at the supplier, these were shipped to me. I decided to just keep those but ordered the 8″ ones again that I really wanted, and lo and behold I got 3 more 6″ ones. After a couple of emails back and forth with the art supply place, I decided just to keep all 6 of them. I’ve probably had them for a year!!
I can relate to getting some layers down so you can really work on them tomorrow. I spent time waiting for paint to dry today! I cleaned the studio….it’s kind of nice!
Leslie, I kind of like this way of working too. It gives me time to do other projects in between, like small works on paper, collage, etc.
I can’t wait to see what happens to them! I like how you show us the different stages that make up the painting. 🙂
Karita I can’t wait either. They always go through many changes!
