New Paintings Started

Well, it’s a start. With collages floating around in my mind, I am forced to move back into my textural acrylics. I wonder if any of the collage imagery will spill over into the acrylics. That would be fun.
Here are the six that have only just begun.
Check back in a couple of days and I will show some step-by-step procedures on the two of these that are the furthest from completion — the ones on the upper right and the bottom center.
I will take frequent progress pictures of those two and document my experiences and observations as I work on them.

hi martha, so glad to see these little ‘gems’. can’t wait to see how you develop them. wish i could be a fly on the wall to watch you proceed step by step. better yet up close and personal with a little lunch would be even better. Hahaha… loving them so far!

What an amazing “glazing” on the green stripes! It looks like glass or ceramics. Looking forward to the finishing stages.
Eva, that is a layer of Golden self-leveling clear gel, and yes it does dry like glass or a glaze!
I shall be most interested in the step by step procedures. I find these (plus the thinking that has gone into an artwork) the most useful part of the “how-to” books I read. I’ve just discovered Stephen Quiller’s wonderful books on colour, am learning just so much from them.
Sandra, I am not familiar with Stephen Quiller’s books. I just now looked at them on his website and they look delicious!
Well, the starts are all so different, it always amazes me how you manage it. Progress reports eagerly awaited…

Martha, is that clear tar gel on the lower right green piece? Thanks.
Sherrill, though I do have some clear tar gel, this is self-leveling clear gel. I use it in between layers in paintings, and then as a final coat.
