A Day Off to Play with Collage
This week since our road trip on Monday has been kind of a blur. I have had a nasty head cold all week which I was just getting on Monday, but didn’t realize it until after the fact. I thought it was my usual allergies. What if I gave it to Margaret on our long trip across Florida and back? What if I gave it to Dale, who is back home in NZ by now? Oh, the guilt! I’ve since heard from Dale and she sounds fine.
So today Margaret and I had planned to go over to Candace Knapp’s to help her dispose of boxes of gorgeous magazines by tearing out pages we might like for collage and helping her to not feel guilty about throwing out the remaining pages. I asked both of them in advance if they were afraid of getting a cold, and they both said absolutely not.
So we headed over with our scissors and containers to take home magazine pages. We are talking beautiful magazines, European and American design magazines, art magazines, old National Geographics, everything beautiful you can think of. We sat around some folding tables surrounded by Candy’s beautiful sculptures, and it felt like an art retreat.
Candy made soup with fresh Florida strawberries on the side, mint tea, Ezekiel bread, and hummus. A glorious day!
Here is the cover of the current quarterly issue Sculptural Pursuit Magazine featuring Candy as the Grand Prize Winner of their annual Art/Literary Competition. Candy’s sculpture and several pages about her are inside. You might want to get it at your local bookstore while supplies last! Click on the picture below for more information.
Congratulations, Candy! I’m honored to have soup at your house any time.
Martha
I am not surprised that you have such creative friends; there seems to be a little creative cloud around you. The four of you together do some good stuff! Fun to read about your day and to follow up on their links. Bravo! or should it be BRAVA!
Annette, I think you’d agree that artists are some of the most fun people to hang out with! (Especially if they wear red sequined sneakers.)
