Road Trip Tomorrow

February 1, 2009

I leave early tomorrow morning for a day trip with Margaret Conte to visit some artists in Lake Worth, Florida. Tonight I was looking on YouTube for some interesting art and found this really inspiring collage and assemblage artist Greg Hanson and I thought you might enjoy some of his videos. You can watch this one, and then go to his channel on YouTube where he has many more. I find his work exciting, and the videos are full of good stuff. And this is Greg’s website.

I guess collage and assemblage are on my mind right now, because Margaret and I are going to meet New Zealand collage and assemblage artist Dale Copeland, who has been visiting Florida for a workshop. She will be at the winter home of Jocelyn Pollard, another collage artist. It will be a whirlwind trip and we expect to be back around dinner time. Be sure to click around and enjoy some of Margaret’s and Dale’s work.

Here is another painting from my newest acrylic textural Rituals series. More blank boxes await my return.

Have a great day tomorrow. I’ll be back with some good stories, I’m sure.

First of all, Martha, I love the painting. Second, thanks so much for the link to Greg’s collages. Isn’t he fun and amazing? I like the dimensional quality of his collages. Food for thought. And third, you lucky dog, meeting with Dale Copeland. Do you think you will make a few collages to join in her annual trade?

Thrilled to learn that you are meeting an artist from my country – small world. Hope you have a great day. Martha there’s something I’ve been waiting to ask you – when you start a new series do you have the ideas for all the paintings in that series? Or do more ideas come after you’ve done the the first ones?

    Mary! My responses are:

    1. Thank you! So glad you like the piece.
    2. I’m so happy to have found Greg’s work and videos. He is great fun to watch!
    3. Dale is totally delightful, just so much fun to be around. We had a blast today. I am going to do the collage exchange this year for sure! I have set the end of February as my goal for getting them completed and sent out.

Sandra, it was a wonderful day. I’ll be blogging about it. In answer to your question, I really just create a series name and keep adding to that series until I think it’s enough. Not the greatest way to work, or even the most creative. But titles are hard for me!!

I love getting your comments, so please don't be shy! Your feedback is valued.
