New Painting Ritual 24

January 22, 2009

Ritual 24 – Acrylic and Collage
Abstract Painting on Cradled Panel
8 x 8 x 2″
Available at Key West Art Bar

This is a direct scan of this painting, which is pretty heavily layered and also has a very textural piece of canvas embedded in the surface. Consequently the color is a little bit dark on the upper left, due to the uneven contact with the scanner. But it suffices as a record of the work, because these are never intended to be translated into prints.

Today I plan to work on a print proposal for some future Brava group shows. We have a couple of places that we want to approach with our proposal. Since I’m the designated tech person I get to put the package together. I don’t mind, and it’s always fun to see all of our artworks and bios all wrapped up together. I’m working on ideas for a really fabulous book cover. I’d actually settle for “really good.”

Some of the tight hand side reminds me of really aged, peeling painted walls – lovely. Wish I could see it IRL to ‘get’ more of the texture.

Cath, that’s pretty much what I was trying for. Thanks, glad you like it!

Catherine, and Cath – These are never the same in person of course because of the texture. One of these days I’m going to shoot a grouping of them in an installation with a raking light. When I do I’ll put it up here.
