New Paintings for Key West Art Bar

January 13, 2009

Today I have spent most of my time finishing up and preparing a few new pieces for Key West Art Bar. My goal is to get them to the post office today.

I’m glad they have asked for more of the little baby ones, 4 x 4″ gallery wrap canvases. I love doing them. They also need more of the 8″ boxes,

Here are the small ones that I will choose from to send.

I think you’ll agree that the studies I did last week were a help.

I find it intriguing that these small works seem to have has much visual space as a piece much larger; there are complexities of shapes, passages and movement. They each contain a world….

The yellow swirl in the one bottom left is very captivating. But they’re all glorious.

Martha, nine of them in a grouping would be dynamite. Even one would be wonderful.

Leslie took the words out of my mouth. It is hard for me to think of these as such small pieces. I find it just as hard to make a good small work as a large one.

Have just shown these to one of my colleagues who is as impressed as I am. I do love your use of colour. Here in New Zealand a lot of abstract paintings are much more subdued – at present I think we all need cheering up with bright colours.

I love these little guys and how my eyes dance from one square to the next. Great combo Martha!

I love getting your comments, so please don't be shy! Your feedback is valued.
