Too Much Left-Brain Activity
Ritual 5 – Acrylic Abstract Painting on Cradled Panel
8 x 8 x 2″
Available at Michael Murphy Gallery
The first days of the new year have not been the quiet refuge from information overload that I had hoped they would be — at least so far. There have been some little glitches in my original plan of just spending some time reflecting and planning for the coming year’s work, and just creating art.
I shouldn’t have started out by changing computers and all that that entails. That is still very much a work in progress, so I’m presently juggling the old and the new. But while I was doing that, I wanted to move some files and programs around, and while I was at it, I decided to change contact email addresses on some sites that I frequent, such as Facebook, Twitter, etc.
So of course while that was all going on I sort of drifted off periodically into Facebook and Twitter for way too long over the weekend!
Meanwhile, I revamped my website. I’d love it if you’d take a look and provide your feedback.
Added to that was a half day taken out on Friday to spend time with two artist friends showing them some software tricks.
My brain is tired from all that left-brain stuff. Enough! It’s out to the studio for me.
I hope you’re anticipating a creative week. If you are, tell us all about it.
Note: The painting above is part of the new “Rituals” series. I am enjoying creating them with even more layers of texture and gels.
One of the things about your art that stands out the most for me is the power your small pieces have when grouped together. Your 5 x 5 grouping of your Rhythms always blow me away. So I’d love to see more pix of groupings, and perhaps some installation shots…the 3 tiny pix of installed art in your commissions sections leaves me wanting more!
Thank you, Sherrill. I appreciate that feedback. (Just so y’all know, I’ve received emails from two people close to me who gave me a detailed critique!)
Candiedfabrics, I end up delivering these to my two main galleries and they play around with the wall groupings. They change them around all the time, because that’s the way they’re supposed to work. Ones, twos, threes, and beyond! My favorite though would be a wall of 25 of them. And wouldn’t I love it for somebody to buy a wall of them! Maybe I can shoot a picture at the gallery some time.
I’m currently all over the place.
But painting nonetheless.
I’ll head over to the website and have a look, but I have got to say — Ritual 5 in incredible. The extra layers do something quite extraordinary – it’s like looking into, I’m not sure, primordial soup or perhaps a nebula? You could look at this for hours and still find new things.
The clean new look is very modern and easy to follow – and I love having access to so much of your work. I think the revamp is excellent.
I really like the new look of your website. Very nice.
