Thinking of A New Series

December 4, 2008

Haiku 59
Acrylic on Cradled Panel
8 x 8 x 2″

There are 66 paintings in the Haiku Series. When those are gone, there will be no more. I have decided to start a new series.

Change for the sake of change? Or perhaps for the sake of a slightly new perspective? Or to work some new magic on the creative process? There will always be the same format, but thinking now of the possibility of linking the imagery more from each painting to the next. Or not. Time will tell.

    Hi Martha,
I think change is good for the soul. We get saturated in our focus when we don’t change it up on occasion.
It’s interesting idea to have some common thread or image running between each. I think it’s well worth exploring. And that also creates a fun notion or question -would the grouping have to be sold as a set or could they be sold individually?

Vikki, I love images that are related but are also independent. That presents an added challenge that I also enjoy.

I for one shall be interested in what you do next, this last image I like enormously, so rich and textured almost like a landscape form thew air.
By the way are you ready for the changes that are hapening on wordpress? Lets hope it does not crash or cause problems, change is in the air perhaps, you could do a series on Transformation?

Chris, I am happy you like that one! There is a third dimension to it that you can’t see in a photograph, and so in real life it does look somewhat like a snapshot of Google Earth! LOL!

My thoughts with the new pieces are to possibly do a series that is more related. But that’s as far as I’ve gotten. I don’t want “cookie cutter” but more of a unified look.

I haven’t been reading the updates about WordPress. I’d better get over there and catch up on what they’re doing. Thanks.

Change is good – especially if you are finished with the series. I’ve never been able to work in a series, exactly. It feels too contrived to me, considering that I work spontaneously. However, there is an underlying theme that pokes its head through many of my pieces even though I don’t deliberately put it there. Sigh…

I saw your pecan pie recipe and am tempted to try it – although mine calls for 2/3 c dark karo and 3/4c brown sugar. Still, pretty close. If you can dig up your pumpkin chiffon pie I’d love to try it. Will substitute REAL whipped cream for the meringue, however.

Rayna, the series is more about titles than it is about inspiration. So I’ll come up with a new series, call it the “x” series and keep on trucking.

I will look for that pumpkin chiffon pie recipe! Will let you know when I find it.

I love getting your comments, so please don't be shy! Your feedback is valued.
