Saturday Finds

November 22, 2008

Hello readers. Hope you’re having an exciting weekend, or at least a warm and toasty one. Here are my Saturday web picks for your surfing pleasure today.

Anxiety Culture

The Webzine Anxiety Culture explores the “anxieties behind the smiling mask of ‘normal’ society. It contains ideas and gimmicks for navigating the stressed, over-competitive, work-obsessed times we live in.”  Check out the Propaganda Gallery for free stickers and posters while you’re there.

Chili Chocolate? Ooooh Yeah!

Dark chocolate and chili lovers, you have got to stop what you’re doing right now and find a bar of this chocolate! I picked it up just now at my local Sweetbay Supermarket, but here is the page from the Lindt USA website where you can order it online, along with a lot of really dreamy looking gift items, since it just happens to be holiday time. This chocolate is infused with just a hint of heat, making it a truly succulent sensory experience. A couple of squares of this plus a glass of great wine, and you’ve got yourself a meal.

Jeff Martin’s Sgraffito Tumbler

Found this on Etsy. I love this mug, and would like it even if it were a painting on the wall. Check out Jeff’s other items on Etsy.

Martha, Lindt chili chocolate bars are directly responsible for my last 10lbs. I finally had to go cold turkey, and now you mention their website where I can buy them online? Crap…..

I LOVE the chocolate! I started adding hot pepper to chocalate after I watched the movie, “Chocolat” with Juliette Binoche, Johnny Depp (yum!), Dame Judy Dench, Alfred Molina and Carrie Anne Moss, among all the other stellars! I took her Aztec advice that peppers heat up the passion in chocolate!

I mad a scraffiti pot in kindergarten. My mother still had it when I discovered it at an advanced age among her things. “I didn’t think you were into modern art sculpture, mama”?!, I said.

“You were ahead of the curve in your age group, ” she answered!

This mug looks just the size to drink chocolate (with or without pepper) or coffee from!

Our lovely Basset Lola ate one of those Chili Dark Choc bars out of the suitcase of a guest here once. I had to call Animal Poison Hotline and shove some hydrogen peroxide down her throat (doggie epicac).
    Not a fun day. LOL!

Was not aware of chili chocolate in this form. For years, I ate a Mexican dish in Oaxaca style restaurants called chicken mole, which consisted of chili peppers and chocolate. One of my all time favorite dishes.

Tracy, in our household dark chocolate is a health food. I was on a mission to lower my husband’s BP without any drugs. Chocolate is one of the things on the list, (along with things like exercise, removing salt, etc.) and we’ve had great success with our regimen. But yeah, I can see we need to watch this chocolate thing just a tad.

Dina! Where is that pot? That’s so cool. I still have a few of my grown kids’ kindergarten projects.

Oh, John. So sorry that happened to Lola. Dogs are so . . . dogs. Boomer ate a whole loaf of ciabatta bread last week. Dad didn’t know you couldn’t put it on a low counter.

Reggie, I had not discovered this bar before, but it was destiny, I know! I was aware of the combination of chocolate and chili in Mexican dishes, but this little confection had been just below my radar till now.

Lindt is the best. I haven’t tried this new Chili Chocolate yet.
    Love that mug!
