Art Blog Tag

November 20, 2008

Well! I just learned I have been tagged. No, Melinda at at Moments of Clarity didn’t spray paint me. She has chosen me among a group of artist/bloggers to share a list of unusual things about ourselves. This is the first time I’ve been tagged — ever — and I feel I really skated for a long time. So . . . OK, Melinda. I’ll play!

Here’s the deal. Melinda, I hope you won’t mind too terribly, but I’m going to change the rules slightly. Since the original tagging rules seem to have suffered from inflation — going from the original five, and then to six, seven, and sometimes eight (Yikes!) — and since we are experiencing cutbacks in just about everything right now, I unfortunately will have to cut back the number of things and tags to five.  So here we go. The rules of the game are:

List 5 unusual things about yourself.

Put a link in your post to the person who tagged you.

Tag 5 other bloggers at the end of your post and comment
on their blogs to let them know.

Let the tagger (me) know when you have posted your list.

I needed something to blog about today anyway. Five unusual things you might not know about me are:

  1. Once when I was eight, I was coasting down a big hill on my bike at dusk with my mouth open, and a bug went down my throat.
  2. When I was in the seventh grade, I learned, through long and arduous practice, to produce a loud and piercing whistle between my upper teeth and bottom lip without using my fingers. This has been of some value over the years, like when I wanted to call my kids home for supper, cheer them on at baseball games, or amaze people at parties.
  3. I’m not too crazy about babies. I like kids better when they’re big enough to converse and make art.
  4. I can play Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata from memory, which is of no use to me now because I don’t have a piano.
  5. I can name all the books of the Bible in order, which is of absolutely no use to anyone.

OK, get ready. These are five of my blogger friends who randomly come to mind when I think of people who might possibly have something unusual to share:

Sheree Rensel – an outrageously talented, focused, and devoted artist. She is devoted to her art, her life as an artist, and to the kids whose lives she touches with her teaching.

John G. – John’s paintings are not to be missed, whether they are his Latin Pop, abstracts, or his Va-Va-Voom Girls. And his blog is cheeky fun.

Dina of Deepwater Journal – Dina’s blog is a compendium of essays, mother wit and wisdom, her beautiful fiber art, and tutorials for some art projects of your own.

Cath Sheard – A Kiwi artist who loves to paint her breathtaking local mountain views and also paints beautiful colorful abstracts.

Mary Buek – Mary’s blog is engaging always, from her tongue-in-cheek take on the world to her beautiful photographs that elevate seemingly mundane subjects and the textural abstracts that are inspired by them.

Now off to break the news to these lucky people! I hope you’ll visit each of their blogs.

Have a spectacular day!!

    I have posted my list.
And now I feel guilty for tagging another five people. LOL!

I felt guilty too. That’s why I picked people I know sort of well — people I knew would tell me no if they didn’t want to do it.

OK now to go see your list! I can’t wait!

Oh, this is wonderful! I, too, was afraid I would burden others with this ‘tagging’ thing, but felt that if it were a problem, it would be okay if an artist didn’t want to do it. This is such an open and liberal community that making up the rules as we go along is just part of being creative.

I loved your response of five unusual things! I hope you get lots of people stopping by–enjoying your work.

Done 🙂 Funny the weird things that popped into my mind. You need a piano Martha!

Glad it was mostly fun for everybody! I’ve enjoyed the new fun facts!

PS – I’m going to edit my post to put in a blurb about each of you tag-ees! Should have done that to start with.

I love getting your comments, so please don't be shy! Your feedback is valued.
