Work in Progress

October 28, 2008

Note:  This photo is crooked. I tried to stretch it back into shape in PhotoShop, but didn’t want to spend too much time on that part. After all, it’s just a peek.

To be completely honest, I liked the three new 30″ panels after the first pass (see below.) But after thinking it over for at least a couple of weeks, and realizing they didn’t serve my overall goal of having a body of work for a new gallery, I have decided to work on them further. Here is the first one I’ve tackled since then. Finishing it will require at least two more painting sessions. I have to add a lot more texture and three-dimensional elements.

Here is how this one started out:

It’s nice to be making progress on work for the new year. I will be looking for more galleries and want to have plenty of new work.

Beautiful transition, Martha. I think this is going to be one of my absolute favourites. Not finished, you say? Hmmmm….hurry then! Can’t wait to see. : )

There won’t be too many changes, I promise! 😉

I’m glad someone’s having luck with abstracts. The past few days have been tough on my abstract work.
I’ve got a “Flavors” and a “Cocktail” abstract series lined up which I hope will turn out.

Looking forward to the end result, Martha. I think the right side (from the edges of the the brown and gray rectangles on) is PERFECT at the moment.

John, I can’t wait to see! I love the series names.

I had to take a quick look at the picture again to see if it’s changed much in that area. I did work on it pretty much all day today, but I’m slow, so you won’t see a lot of change. Just a deepening of colors and textures here and there, and the right side is intact. Except that the grey at the top is darker and more defined in texture, and the bottom grey rectangle’s texture is emphasized as well.

Plus, when I photograph it again, it will be outside and will show up way better overall.

I second it! It looks finish to me. Oh dear I LOVE all of your work, thank goodness I don’t have to pick a favorite.
    Hugs,
    Joyce

Thank you for sharing your work ethic.
I went to drawing class tonight and a peer student (but who does have an “exclusive” in a local gallery, put together 4 (FOUR!!) pieces in one evening. I was cynical, jealous, etc etc. I just need to get a “body of work” ready and schlep it around… right?
    Best wishes on your venture(s).

I love getting your comments, so please don't be shy! Your feedback is valued.
