Sunday In The Park Again

September 14, 2008

I took the camera with me to the park today. This is only one side of this really huge park, the side with the lake. Then there is the campground area, with wonderful winding trails, and the picnic area, with its actual hills where the kids love to climb. All of it is walkable, and we do it frequently. The dogs truly think this is an extension of their territory.

It’s a popular fishing lake, with piers and a boat ramp.

Below is a view from the main boat ramp.

Another beautiful view, where we frequently see alligators cruising along with only their eyes and noses showing.

This old tree stump has been lying on the ground for as long as we’ve been going to this park.

Here is Jim with the dogs, with a birthday party going on over to the right.

It turns out the party was for adorable twin toddlers who fell in love with our dogs. Then Boomer ate one of the twins’ chocolate chip cookie right out of her hand. It happened so fast she was stunned. But she forgave him.

Burgers on the grill tonight. We are always tempted by all the picnics going on at the park with their tantalizing smells coming from the fire.

See you with some art tomorrow, I promise!

    Looks like a lovely day.

I LOVE this park! Such wonderful pictures of a truly beautiful place! And Boomer did what Boomer does so well with food…don’t wait to be tempted twice!

I attended Easter Sunrise service there in the late 1980s on the dock over the gator lake you photographed. Just as Angie read the passage about being born again and supported in the risen body of Christ, the dock collapsed and there were a whole congregation of Easter Sunday Unitarians baptized in the cold water.

I took that as a sign and became a full fledged pagan soon after that.

    Love,
    Aunt Dina

John, the dogs always know when it’s the weekend. They start on us early about going, and are so sad if we can’t take them.

    Dina, that is a stitch!!!

Joyce, that stump would be beautiful for just sitting and sketching. It’s a great place to just “be.”
